Don't put Descartes before de horse...

So, today, first Tuesday of the month, and we're meeting to discuss 'Jitterbug Perfume'. Very exciting. The bar has been selected (more on that later) and it's all looking good.

And, although it's a little strange to be thinking about the next book before we've even discussed this one, I'm selecting, and time is of the essence because I'm off on holiday in a week and a half, and will need to order them before I go. Was going to do 'The Poisonwood Bible' until a giant TV screen in Canary Wharf randomly announced to me that it was voted the most popular bookclub book of all time. We don't jump on bandwagons, so will have to read it in our own good time.
Here are my options for the September book (meeting on the 6th)... Let me know if you've read any of them. And then I'll decide...

I really like the look of the first one....sounds like something we could get stuck into. Just finished reading Jitterbug and I'm missing it already.

Wow. What a great idea. Reading and booze. And Jitterbug Perfume is a great way to start. It's actually my favorite Robbins book, over Still Life with Woodpecker and Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas.

After Jitterbug Perfume, I walked around sniffing stuff for weeks. You're just more aware of the sense of smell.

Also have to compliment the Bulgakov reference in the blog name. Nice.

Cheers.

Aberystwyth mon amour it is then! Hoping Jaime hasn't read it. I've ordered copies for us five. (I prefer cash to cheques, and it's the princely sum of £3.99.)
Now, onto more important subjects - Welsh pubs... Jenny suggested one of the many Prince Of Wales pubs in London - but I'm concerned that's too obvious a choice. Maybe I'll make it a surprise...
